Who are we?

At Tech Goes Home, we help bring computers, internet, and training to those without so students can do homework, adults can find jobs and manage finances, and seniors can connect with loved ones and lead healthy lives. Our program includes 15 hours of digital skills training, a new computer to take home, and for learners who lack home internet, a year-long internet subscription.

What is Tech Goes Home?

Tech Goes Home (TGH) works to achieve digital equity by bringing digital skills training, tools, and access to those without so that students can succeed in school, adults can find jobs and manage finances, and seniors can connect with loved ones, and all can lead healthy lives. Learners complete fifteen hours of classroom training, earning a new Chromebook or iPad, and access to home internet.

Who does Tech Goes Home serve?

Tech Goes Home serves learners of all ages throughout the City of Boston and 17 additional Eastern Massachusetts communities who face systemic barriers to digital access and technology adoption.

Why should I volunteer?

By joining TGH you:

  • Make a lasting impact on your community

  • Become part of the TGH network and make connections with other dedicated people working to achieve digital equity

  • Improve your own knowledge of online resources and essential digital skills

What would I be doing as a volunteer?

Volunteers can support TGH in several ways:

  • Create Printable PDF Tutorials: Volunteers create step-by-step guides for learners to follow when using applications and websites for the first time.

  • Create Video Tutorials: Volunteers create simple how-to videos for learners to follow when using applications and websites for the first time.

  • Translate Resources: Volunteers translate existing TGH learning resources into high-priority languages such as Spanish, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Portuguese, and Arabic.

  • Lead Webinars: Volunteers lead a live educational webinar to teach a digital skill to learners. Webinars are an hour of lecture-style instruction followed by a Q&A session for 10-30 mins.

Do I need to be a computer scientist to volunteer?

No. We're looking for volunteers who are comfortable using the internet for daily life. We value the variety and diversity of expertise that our volunteers bring.

I have more questions. Who can I ask?
